Prime Minister Narendra Modi today felicitated Agniveer, the pioneer of the first Agnipath project. Prime Minister Modi addressed the first batch of Agniveer of the three services, through video conferencing, who have started their initial training.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this transformational policy will write a new history in empowering our armed forces and making them ready to face future challenges. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the young Agniveer will make the armed forces more youthful and tech savvy.
Discussing the changing nature of warfare in the 21st century, new fronts of non-contact warfare and the challenges of cyber warfare, he said that technologically advanced soldiers will play an important role in our armed forces. He said that especially the present young generation has this ability. Therefore, Agniveer will play an important role in our armed forces in the coming days, he said.
The Prime Minister spoke about how this scheme will further empower women. Expressing happiness that women fire fighters are increasing the pride of the Navy, he said that he wants to see women fire fighters in all the three forces. Citing examples of women soldiers in Siachen and women flying modern fighter jets, the Prime Minister recalled how women are leading the armed forces in various fields.
Being posted in different areas will give them an opportunity to gain diverse experiences and they should try to learn different languages and also learn about different cultures and ways of life, the Prime Minister said.
Respecting teamwork and leadership skills adds a new dimension to his personality, he said. He encouraged the firemen to be curious about learning new things while simultaneously working for their skill development in their chosen fields.
